Ramesh Tekam

Ramesh Tekam is an artist from the Gond community in central India, one of India’s largest groups of indigenous people. Gond art traditionally decorated the mud walls and floors of their homes and has only moved to paper and canvas in recent times. It reflects the connection between people and nature, traditionally featuring animals, nature and mythical tales. Ramesh’s work is characterised by bold strokes and vibrant colours. His enduring fascination with elephants and other animals he saw as a child, is evident in his work.
