Dolon Kundu’s art is called ‘pinch pottery’: quite literally, the art of pinching clay into shape. In a field dominated by men, Dolon is a rare woman artist, whose mastery of the form is evident in her exquisite work. She heads a studio full of dynamic women whom she trains and inspires. She has collaborated with curator Nandita Palchoudhuri to infuse contemporary design into her traditional craft, creating an array of captivating objects and sculptures. Dolon’s work was honoured with the President’s Award in 2019.
