Miya Kasam Adam Sangar and Zuma Kasam Adam Sangar

Kasam and Zuma are embroidery artists in the Ari ‘Mochi’ tradition, their stunningly intricate works reflecting a level of skill and craftsmanship that is rare. A special needle with a fine hook is used to embroider the fabric stretched tightly on a wooden or metal frame. Their work made it to the V&A Museum collection and to Hollywood; Emma Watson’s elaborate costume in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was embroidered by the Kasam brothers. In this collection they present contemporary fragments of art based on the iconography of antique textiles, alongside some glimpses of village life, and classical motifs.
