Ashish Malakar

Ashish Malakar’s family has been associated with Shola craft for three generations. Whilst being an exquisite sculptor of traditional objects the craft is associated with, he has also taken Shola to newer forms. His design collaboration with art curator Nandita Palchoudhuri has taken his skills even further, to create intricate, gossamer-like art for modern spaces. Ashish Malakar has exhibited across India and in numerous countries abroad, and is a recipient of the President’s Award and the Shilp Guru award.
