Nayan Chitrakar is an emerging artist in Bengal Pattachitra, who learned his art from his father and grandfather, both highly accomplished artists. Made in the Kalighat style of painting with simple yet expressive lines, and vibrant, naturally derived colours, Nayan’s artworks are an homage to the traditions of Bengal. He also infuses his own youthful, contemporary take on life into his art, with strikingly strong Goddesses rendered in bold colours, and bicycles, cars and multistorey buildings amidst oceans and fields.
