Puvar Ben

The embroidery traditions in Kachchh are as ancient as they are unique, and the women of the nomadic, pastoral Rabari community have been creators and preservers of some of the region’s most extraordinary embroidery. Puvarben and her older sisters were trained in embroidery by their mother from a young age, as is the Rabari custom. Puvarben has a knack for patterns and a high sense of colour and balance, producing works that are a delightful combination of energy, nonchalance and irreverence. One of the highlights of our collection is her creation of a vocabulary of stitches, an ode to the high tradition of Rabari embroidery.
