Ziya Tarapore creates stunning textural art from paper, that are abstractions of tree forms, flowers, rocks and the ocean. She layers, melds, and dyes paper to form shapes, then scrapes and tears the surface to create texture, adding colour and sculptural depth along the way.

In The Darkness, Look For The Light critiques mass production, instant gratification, and 
consumerism, and alludes to the timelessness and spirituality of the natural world as an 
alternative. At the same time, the artist challenges the viewer to consider the ironic 
duality of her subject matter and chosen media, as the trees she often evokes are the very trees that must be sacrificed in order to make the paper with which her art is created.
