This vintage three-pronged candelabra from Goa is made of solid brass with a nickel coating that has mellowed naturally over time. The combination of brass and nickel gives the piece its distinctive surface character, with a soft patina that reflects its age and use. The candelabra rests on a wide circular base, providing stability, while the oval-oblong stem rises to support three candle holders arranged in a balanced outward formation. Its restrained form and aged surface give it a quiet presence without overwhelming the space.
Goa's long history of Portuguese and Indian cultural exchange has produced a distinctive material culture in which European-inspired forms and local craftsmanship often meet. This candelabra is an interesting example of that broader coastal design vocabulary, combining a familiar European candle-holder form with the character of a vintage Indian object. The nickel coating has softened with age, allowing the underlying brass and natural surface variations to contribute to its character. Rather than appearing uniformly polished, the finish retains the marks and patina associated with an older functional object.
