Through Old Frames
Once the quiet storytellers of Mumbai’s streets, these windows were shaped with an intimacy that came from hand, earth and time. Built from natural materials, carved, painted and repaired across generations, each one carried the temperament of its home, whether cautious, flamboyant, weary, or hopeful. Together they created a living alphabet across Mumbai. Many of them are now disappearing behind glass and steel, along with a tactile language shaped by patience and individuality. This series is a record of that which is fading, a tribute to the love held in everyday architecture and to a moment when every window, shuttered or curtained, tall or narrow, had its own voice in the larger chorus of the city.
