Alka Mathur
Alka Mathur is a mixed-media visual artist whose practice explores earth, time, memory, the divine feminine, and intergenerational histories. She works with natural dyes, earth pigments, found objects, paper, cloth, and organic materials, blurring the boundaries between traditional and contemporary art practices. Alka’s tea bag works archive fragments of daily life, weaving together personal memory and collective experience. Her recent practice further engages with natural processes through handmade earth colours, botanical drawing tools, photography, and embedded organic matter in paper pulp.
She has exhibited widely in India and internationally, including at 47-A gallery (Mumbai), India Habitat Centre (Delhi), and the Nehru Centre (London). She has also participated in multiple artist residencies in the US. Her works are in several public and private collections in India and abroad.
