The hibiscus colored, elephant faced Ganapathi was born during an astronomical event in the constellation of Pleiades. His stories are encoded with esoteric knowledge; he guards the eight quarters of the mind from lower animal qualities and thought. Symbolising new beginnings, he can break through all barriers and is called upon for the removal of subtle and gross difficulties at the root centre, the gate of the earth element in the human field.
