This 19th-century Veerabhadra plaque from Karnataka depicts the fierce warrior manifestation of Lord Shiva in a richly detailed devotional composition. Veerabhadra is shown wearing a peaked crown adorned with a Naga, an attribute associated with protection and divine power.

The four-armed figure holds a bow and arrow, sword and shield, emphasising Veerabhadra's warrior aspect. Flanking him are Daksha and Sati, connecting the plaque to the well-known Hindu narrative of Sati's sacrifice and Veerabhadra's emergence from Lord Shiva's wrath following Daksha's disrespect towards Shiva.

The composition is completed by the sun and moon at the upper corners, traditional celestial symbols that add balance to the central figure. Together, Veerabhadra, Daksha, Sati and the celestial motifs create a compact narrative representation of an important episode in Shaivite mythology.

With its 19th-century date, Karnataka provenance and detailed iconography, this Veerabhadra plaque is an evocative example of South Indian devotional art and traditional Hindu religious sculpture. It would be of particular interest to collectors of Shaivite objects, Veerabhadra imagery and historic Indian devotional art.
