While rooted in Ajrakh tradition, Khalid’s work subverts and expands its boundaries. In this collection, he develops a personal, gestural style that blends the performative aspects of his artistic process with the aesthetic sensibilities of his craft. “I had countless conversations with myself while creating these pieces,” Khalid reflects, describing the introspective and contemplative nature of his process, which often feels like the creation of a new syllabary.
