Traditionally painted on the mud walls of homes, Warli art has moved to paper and canvas, but continues to use cowdung, rice flour, water and gum, with a bamboo-stick for brush, sometimes adding in acrylic colours. Ramesh Hengadi’s paintings tell stories of village scenes, nature and community, the unique music and cadence of Warli life. He is committed to preserving their rich traditions, by showcasing their extraordinary art across the world.
