In "Still Night" the artist uses heavy texture and rich light to depict a solitary dog standing in a rain-slicked, streetlamp-lit alleyway. Vibrant reflections of yellow and purple cut through deep shadows, capturing the still, contemplative mystery of the silent city after dark.
With roots in Delhi and Punjab and having lived and worked across different parts of Maharashtra, Vandana Krishna’s artistic sensibility has been shaped by a diverse cultural landscape.
Her artistic practice moves fluidly between figuration and abstraction, often placing figures within atmospheric landscapes or layered environments, inviting viewers to find their own meaning within the work. The artist is fascinated by the emotional depth that can emerge from everyday moments. Her recent works explore the urban landscape of Mumbai—its glass façades, open skies, and rain-soaked streets—using reflection as both a visual motif and a metaphor for perception, memory, and inner experience.
