Comparing a bird with a dinosaur has become a lazy trope. One exception to that rule, in my opinion, is the Grey Hornbill. Step into your city’s biggest park, find the oldest trees & spend time observing these birds hop, skip and jump along the high branches. If you grew up watching the first two Jurassic Park movies, recall which of the big-screen dinosaurs their movement reminds you of? This is a surprisingly powerful bird with big jaws and claws, always up for an occasional murder or two.

Care instructions: Avoid continuous exposure to direct sunlight and humidity.

Aniruddha Gupte is an artist residing in Mumbai, India. In 2025, Aniruddha was awarded the Michelle Lee Howk Award at the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year competition at the Mall Galleries in London, UK. His love for the outdoors has been a constant for three decades, and his love for watercolor is relatively recent. He is on a quest to paint every bird species found in India.

For Aniruddha, the act of paying attention is the act of love. His art is his way of appreciating and spending time with the creatures he observes around him. He also sees it as a way of spending time with creatures that may disappear forever before he can observe them. You can find him sharing his passion, teaching art outdoors, in classrooms, and online.
